What is GeoXY?

GeoXY is a professional geodetic toolkit purpose-built for surveyors, GIS professionals, and engineers working across the Arab world. It supports over 40 geodetic datums — from legacy local reference frames to modern global systems — enabling accurate coordinate transformations for the entire region.

Why Local Datums Matter

Many Arab countries developed their own local geodetic datums before the widespread adoption of WGS84. These legacy datums — such as Ain el Abd (Saudi Arabia), Egypt 1907 belts, Nahrwan 1967 (UAE), and Carthage (Tunisia) — are still used in existing surveys, maps, and infrastructure records. GeoXY bridges these legacy systems with modern reference frames.

Supported Regions

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia — with datum-specific projections and UTM zone configurations for each country.

Technical Stack

Built with Next.js 15, TypeScript, and MapLibre GL. Coordinate transformations powered by proj4 with registered EPSG definitions. Elevation data from AWS Terrain Tiles. Map rendering via react-map-gl with OpenFreeMap tiles.
